Oats idli



Oats Idli
I had this post on "Oats Idli" in my draft since a long time and have prepared it many a times since then as love, but somehow had completely forgotten about it till one of my friends asked me to post the recipe for the same. Its very healthy and nutritious dish to start your day with. So here it goes...
 


Ingredients                                                     Quantity                                      
Oats                                                                          : 1 cup
Idlli Rava                                                                :  1/2 cup     
Carrot chopped                                                     :  1/2 cup
French beans chopped                                        : 1/2 cup
Onion chopped                                                     : 1/2 cup
Curry leaves                                                           : A few
Curd                                                                        : 1/2 cup
Hing                                                                        : Hing
Salt                                                                          : As required
Mustard seeds                                                      : 1/2 tsp
Sesame seeds                                                        : 1 tsp
Corainder leaves (Chopped)                              : 2-3 tsp
Baking soda                                                           : 1/2 tsp
Water                                                                      As required

Preparation Method:                                                                                                               
  • Dry roast idlli rava till it turns light brown, it should leave a nice aroma.Let it cool.
  • Now roast oats for 5 minutes and grind it to fine powder once its cooled.
  • Chop the carrot, french beans and cabbage to fine pieces.
  • Take a wok/Kadai, heat 1 tsp of oil, splutter mustard seeds,urad dal,chopped green chilly, curry leaves, saute for 2-3 mins, then add all the chopped vegetables , add salt and saute for another 2-3 minutes till the vegetables get tender.
  • Take a bowl, add oats powder, rava, asetofedia/hing, curd,chopped coriander leaves, all the sauted vegetables and a pinch of baking soda. Add as much water as required to make normal idlli batter consistency. Keep aside for 10-15 mins.
  • In the idlli plates and pour the batter with a laddle.Steam the idlli's for 12-15 mins.
  • Let it cool and remove them from the mould and serve it with coconut chutney.
