Bread Roll |
Bread roll is one of the favourite snacks of my son. It is indeed a crunchy munchy snack that I am sure anyone would like to have with a cup of tea in the evenings especially when it rains. Normally its deep fried, I shallow fried it by just brushing few drops of oil in a non stick frying pan and then roasting/frying the rolls on each side till they turned brown.
The filling for Bread rolls can be of either
potatoes, paneer or a combination of different vegetables. Its a very
kid friendly recipe where in mothers, can mix and match all the any kind of vegetables as the stuffing for the bread roll.
Ingredients Quantity
Potatoes : 3(Medium sized)
Green Peas :1/4 Cup
Onion chopped :1(small sized)
Coriander(dhania) leaves : 3-4 tsp
Red chilly powder : 1 tsp
Green chillies chopped :1 tsp
Lemon juice : 1 tsp
Chaat masala :1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Preparation Method:
- Boil the potatoes for 5-6 whistels on medium flame and keep aside. Let the potatoes cool and then mash them.
- In a separate pan, boil water and add green peas and let them boil for 10 mis .
- In a pan\, mix the mashed potatoes, boiled green peas, chopped onion, green chilli, red chilli powder, chopped coriander leaves,Chat masala, lemon juice and salt.
- Mix everything very well.
- Take the breads and chop all the four sides of bread.
- Dip it in bowl of water and squeeze the water completely.
- Now place the filling in the center of the bread and roll the bread to any shape like round or long rolls,Close the rolls with your palms such that all the edges are completely packed.
- In a frying pan, brush 1 tsp of oil, shallow fry each of the rolls till each side turns brown and crispy.
Serve them hot with sauce.
Tips:
- Although I have used brown bread, normally white breads are used for preparing bread rolls.
- Deep frying the rolls makes them very crunchy, but the bread tends to absorb lots of oil, so try to shallow them which would make them healthier.
- Since they are shallow fried and hence serve them hot immediately.
